Last week we celebrated KIG’s fourth anniversary. We’re now releasing a big Trouble in Mineville update!
New maps
Plateau
Builders: Lunxx & Mewnxx
Mount Moore
Builders: The Look Egg Team
New achievements
We’re adding ten new achievements!
- Guinea Pig I/II/III: Use the traitor tester in 50, 100, 200 rounds.
- The Art Of Betrayal I/II/III: Win 10, 20, 50 traitor games.
- Trap Master I/II/III: Use traitor traps 50, 100, 200 times.
- You retain progress from the old Trap Master achievement towards Trap Master III, including whether you’ve already completed it. Everyone starts with fresh progress for Trap Master I and II.
- Trained Sleuth: As a detective, note a player down in your tester log while being more than 50 blocks away from the tester.
- Wizard Of The End: Collect an iron sword from all ender chests.
The last one is a bit hard to get, but we’re hoping the reward will be worth it: we’re introducing a new Detective Stick cosmetic, an eye of ender!
Helping inexperienced players
We’re making some changes to make the game easier to understand for new players.
Introductory messages
We’re introducing explicative messages for the traitor tester, the shops, and each role item.
Some of those messages are only shown to players with less than 1,000 karma. For those players, we’re also extending the game start message to discourage RDM.
Revamped menus
You can now open both the actions menu and the traitor/detective/assassin shop by using the compass!
We’ve also refreshed the look of the regular shop and actions menus.
Glowing effect for fellow traitors
Fellow traitors are now more easily recognizable, and can be seen through walls!
Note: this feature is only available if you play on Minecraft 1.9 or above, or on Lunar Client on 1.8. If you’re on Lunar, make sure to turn “Fast Render” off for the best experience. You can always disable this feature by running /glow.
Balance changes
Tester cooldown for low-player games
We’ve recognized that when the player count in a game is really low, it’s generally a lot easier to tell who the traitor is because everyone else tested.
In games with less than 6 players, the tester is now initially broken, and takes 2 minutes to restore.
Changes from the last survey
We’ve looked at the result of the previous survey, and we’re happy to share that all the changes have been met with positive feedback! This means:
- The suicide bomb now costs 3 points (from 4).
- The tester bomb now costs 4 points (from 6), and only explodes the next time a player tests.
- Claymores and other explosions now absorb karma loss if the traitor is dead.
Other changes
We’ve also made other minor changes and fixed some issues, notably:
- The detective report book now correctly reports no traces of blood if a player disconnected at least one minute after being attacked last.
- Detective cats no longer give damage tags to innocents/detectives, meaning a detective can’t lose karma if the cat kills one, unless the detective attacked them directly.
- We’ve added the /morestats command to show some previously hidden statistics.
- We’ve tweaked the anti-cheat to work better with newer versions, for example you can now swim on 1.13+ without getting stuck.
- Players on 1.9+ can now register a block much faster when right-clicking with a sword. The fake shield will also stop obstructing your view as soon as you put out your sword.
- Dead bodies can no longer pick up items.
An update on stat transfers
We’ve extended the range of Hive leaderboard places we support stat transfers for in Trouble in Mineville. Previously, only players who were in the Top 1000 could transfer their stats. We’re adding an extra 180 players to that list, bringing the threshold down to 56,785 Hive karma.
Out of those 180, 20 had previously attempted to transfer their stats after the availability ended.
Those players are: Amoire, Aukai, cosmicorn, Dani, DeathRiottt, fishygurl666, gracci, mayaaHS, mokrahouba, mvrty, nylani, Robzi, Shadow_S2, smolpimp, SunshineInABag, SwiftSkye, tokenize, Varsel, violetkitti, wNuss.
The stat transfer status for these players has been reset, so they can now attempt to transfer again!
We’re always looking into more ways we can get players’s stats transferred.
That’s it for the update! As a reminder, we always welcome suggestions for our game modes. If you have some for Trouble in Mineville, please create a topic in Suggestions - TIMV so players can discuss.
Release date
The two new maps and the update are being released together… this Friday (Aug 16)! Make sure not to miss the recruitment event running that same weekend!
